An oil cooler is essential for a tuned engine/drivetrain. With increased power and load or harder driving, heat generation increases and results in higher oil temperature.

Examples include drifting, circuit racing, and rally, where all cars require an oil cooler due to high stress and oil temperatures.

Oil line sizing

There is no general answer for hose and fitting size. If you don't know what works, start with AN8, which is the most common. Factors that affect sizing include components connected in series with the oil cooler, such as:

Ultimately, the goal is to avoid excessive pressure drop between the inlet and outlet of the engine/drivetrain. Measure this before and after installation to be sure.
